The Trouble With Mares

Upon Mimiri's begging, Connemara finally gave in to talk to the new mare, Sundial. Connemara really had no interest in her but since they were a herd, she might as well make friends. The three stood together as Mimiri pointed out the aspects of the herd and named the other members.
"And that guy? What's his name?" Sundial looked at Tazune romping around with the two new foals, Zane and Tazumi.
Connemara blushed even when she thought about or looked at Tazune. She had such a huge crush on him. Especially when she got the hint that Adoni was more interested in Mimiri than her too. But Adoni was more of a brother anyway. Tazune was more her personality type; adventurous, daring, and brave.
"That's Tazune," answered Mimiri. "He's been here longer than me even. He and Adoni are great pals."
Sundial nickered, "Is he into anyone?"
Connemara snapped out of her daze, "What!?"
Sundial flipped her hair, still looking at Tazune, "Is he seeing anyone? I think I really like this guy."
Connemara's jaw dropped.
Mimiri didn't notice, "I don't think so." She laughed, "He was just making a fuss about the lack of mares too."
Sundial smiled, "Oh I see. He's looking for some real mare."
Connemara pinned her ears, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Well, you know, a girl that's not so...plain." Sundial said.
Mimiri threw her ears back as well, "Are you calling us plain?"
Sundial felt the awkward position she just put herself in, "No, Mimiri! Not you!"
"Oh, so I'M the one that's plain!" Connemara snorted.
"I-I mean...well...Mimiri help me out?"
Mimiri snorted as well, "You insulted my friend and you want me to defend you?"
"Just because I'm not some bright yellow mare with hot pink hair and all sorts of weird designs flying around everywhere doesn't mean I'm PLAIN! I was born this way and that's all that matters! You can take your opinions of what a REAL girl should look like and shove 'em down your throat! Tazune doesn't give a crap about that kind of stuff!" Connemara yelled and then ran away into the neighboring woods to be alone.
Sundial had backed down from the outburst and blinked, "What the heck was that all for!?"
Mimiri rolled her eyes, "Sundial. That was not an okay way to behave. And that's certainly not a good way to make friends. Not in this herd." Mimiri walked away to the woods to look for Connemara, leaving Sundial all alone.
Sundial felt embarrassed. She looked around. No one seemed to notice too much as to what happened just now. "Whatever. Some horses just can't take some criticism." She lifted her tail and stuck her nose in the air. She trotted over to where Tazune was standing.

Oi oi oi girls. This is before Connemara dyes her hair and gets tattoos and yes she does it because of what Sundial tells her. Sundial just doesn't get it. She's kind of a snot in the beginning but I promise she pulls her head out of her butt eventually lol Poor Connemara!
